New World is the planet where the story of Chaos Walking takes place. It is the new home of the people from Old World and the native home of the Spackle.

Geography[]
New World seems to be a planet dominated by forests, rivers, lakes, and mountains; however, the planet has extremely diverse biomes. There is also a swamp where Prentisstown is situated. In Monsters of Men, Todd sees a desert in his coma at the end of the novel.
There used to be a bridge connecting two canyons right in the middle of Farbranch and Prentisstown territory, but it was blown up by Viola in The Knife of Never Letting Go.

The Noise is a germ native to New World that exposes all thoughts of fauna and male humans on the planet. It is used extensively by the Land to communicate with each other. Female humans exposed to the Noise do not have their thoughts shown.

Trivia[]
- In the film, New World was shot in Quebec, Scotland, and Iceland.
- In the books, New World has a night and day like Earth. In one of the film's deleted scenes, Todd tells Viola that the sun sets ten years prior to the film, which caused crop failure one year. It is unknown when the sun sets in the film version of New World.
