History[]

Chaos Walking[]

The Knife of Never Letting Go[]

Wilf first appeared when he helped Todd and Viola cross the valley of creatures. He's described as very simple but warns them of rain hours before it actually happens. Later, when Todd is injured he lets him onto his wagon, on which he and his wife, Jane, are travelling to Haven along with the rest of his town. He says no one listens to him, but when they do they believe him.

The Ask and the Answer[]

Viola finds him after she has escaped from the House of Healing. He says he joined the Answer because they were going to take Jane so they could treat her after she fell ill. He didn't want to leave her so he joined and they used his wagon to ride in and out of New Prentisstown. Since he was so simple, the guards believed everything he said.

Chaos Walking (2021)[]

Wilf was slated to appear in the film adaptation of The Knife of Never Letting Go, but was cut out off the final version because of reshoots.

However, he can be seen in the deleted scene "Extended Farbranch" on the film's home video bonus features. He is first seen escorting Todd to the border of Farbranch territory on Hildy's orders before the Prentisstown attack on the town. He is later seen taking Todd and Viola to other territory after the Prentisstown attack when the group is attacked by members of the Answer. After Aaron finds the Answer's camp, Wilf is shown escaping from the encampment.

Trivia[]

  • Wilf uses oxen as transport, and they consistently say "Wilf" in their Noise.
